This is a PRN Position located at Palacios Community Medical Center.
Employees who are hired to work for a short specified period of time or on an irregular basis either in a full time or part time capacity or who voluntarily choose PRN status are considered PRN employees, PRN employees are not entitled to organization paid leave benefits including but not limited to vacation, sick, holiday, bereavement and jury duty.

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides professional nursing care for patients in assigned medical/surgical area according to established procedures. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital’s customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.
% Of Time POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
75% 1. Performs delegated functions in compliance with hospital and nursing department policies, protocols and procedures. Delivers nursing care in an organized manner to groups of patients in compliance with hospital and nursing department policies, protocols and procedures. Provides patient care based on the nursing process. Monitors the patient’s behavioral and physiological status.
13% 2. Demonstrates patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in meeting age related and handicapped patient’s needs.
12% 3. Is accountable for maintaining and improving own nursing knowledge and skills. Participates in Quality Improvement activities, ensuring quality outcomes, and following quality improvement processes.
4.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
Required Certification:
Registration with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas; CPR certification; ACLS required, PALS preferred.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and/or crouching.
Working Conditions:
Regularly exposed to risk of blood borne diseases. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances. Exposed unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness). Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. May perform emergency care. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. Includes working rotational shifts, holidays and weekends as needed. Morning scheduled personnel are to arrive by 6:45am, and the evening scheduled personnel are to arrive by 18:45 (6:45 pm) in order to complete chart review.
