The Faces of Rural Texas: Health & Community Photo Contest was dedicated to rural hospital facilities for a chance to showcase what rural health means to them. We were invited to submit photos that captured the unique spirit, challenges, and resilience of rural communities, healthcare organizations, and the champions who serve them.

El Campo Medical Foundation Executive Director, Pamela Hunt, worked along side Amy Schoppe, Director of Radiology, to bring El Campo Memorial Hospital’s new 3D Mammography system to women in Wharton County through philanthropy fund raising and exceptional grant writing by Pam.

When the contest was announced, Pam submitted the above picture along with our story of working together with our community to bring this much needed service and upgrade to the women in our community. On the National Rural Health Day, it was announced that El Campo Memorial Hospital had won the contest!

The picture above was showcased on the front page of UTA Center for Rural Health and Nursing’s website and also on the Texas Rural Health Association’s website. A gift card was provided to ECMH along with a luncheon and CRHN/TRHA t-shirts.

Mid Coast Health System would like to congratulate all team members of El Campo Memorial Hospital and the El Campo Medical Foundation involved in this great contest, and also to Texas Rural Health Association for this opportunity.
