Our Story
Mid Coast Health System (MCHS) began with a single flagship hospital in El Campo, Texas—El Campo Memorial Hospital (ECMH). Today, ECMH is recognized as a leading rural healthcare provider along the Texas Gulf Coast, known for delivering high-quality, compassionate care. With roots firmly planted in the El Campo community for more than 80 years, ECMH has proudly served patients at its current location since 1979.
The system was established with the vision of expanding access to quality healthcare services throughout the region. The following year, Palacios Community Medical Center became the first hospital to join ECMH under the MCHS umbrella, marking the beginning of a growing regional network. Since then, the system has expanded to include hospital facilities in Bellville and Crockett.
Today, Mid Coast Health System provides care across multiple communities. Medical clinics are located in Palacios, Bellville, Crockett, and Wharton, while El Campo is home to two walk-in clinics and a Women’s Health Clinic—ensuring convenient, close-to-home care for patients and families. In addition, Mid Coast Pharmacy – Midtown, located at 1201 N. Mechanic Street in El Campo, supports the community’s healthcare needs.
