EMERGENCY ROOM CLERK - EL CAMPO
POSITION SUMMARY
The ER Clerk is responsible for providing clerical support for the hospital for patients presenting to the ER and processing all registrations for ER services, including inpatient and outpatient services and obtaining accurate and complete information. The clerk completes verification of insurance as well as collects patient share after triage and medical intervention when an emergency medical condition exists per EMTALA. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital’s customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
The ER clerk will process the ER registration, obtain accurate and complete patient demographic and insurance information and update all current information accurately into the EMR. When a medical screening has been completed by the ER MD and the ER MD has determined a patient’s condition to be non-emergent, the ER Clerk will collect patient share due for service per policy. The ER Clerk will collect all ER co-pays as defined by a patient’s insurance card or insurance company. This will be collected after triage and after medical intervention when an emergency medical condition exists per EMTALA.
Supports and promotes excellence in customer/guest relations. Demonstrates patient centered, patient valued behaviors. Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with coworkers and Business Office to ensure completeness and accurateness of all information.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent.
Physical Demands - Must be able to work twelve (12) hours, prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lift supplies weighing less than 25 pounds; push patients in a wheelchair weighing up to 200 pounds.
Work Conditions - Must be flexible, regularly scheduled 12 hour shifts including some weekends. Regularly exposed to risk of bloodborne diseases. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness). Handles emergency crisis situations. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. Morning scheduled personnel are to arrive by 6:45am, and the evening scheduled personnel are to arrive by 18:45 (6:45 pm).
DIRECTOR OF PLANT OPERATIONS
POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and controls the activities of the Plant Operations Department to provide services, repairs/maintenance, and security necessary to insure the safe and efficient operation of MidCoast Health System facilities. The Director of Plant Operations will also perform the duties of the Safety Officer. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to MidCoast Health Systems customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develops, implements, and evaluates departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives.
- Develops, implements, and directs a preventive and corrective maintenance program.
- Works with department managers in selection and coordination of maintenance contracts.
- Develops annual operating budget to include personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies and prepares estimates for construction planning.
- Works with Administration and department managers on proposed construction and assures proper completion of approved construction projects.
- Prepares and presents required statistical and operating reports, square foot calculations and changes, and audits bi-weekly time printouts.
- Responsible for interviewing and hiring new staff, evaluating work performance, counseling, disciplining, and terminating departmental employees.
- Develops and manages a management program for life safety, equipment, and utilities.
- Performs as the Safety Officer.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Associate’s Degree or combined education and experience. Must possess managerial skills. Knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems. Understands air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Experience in design/repair of electrical circuits. Mechanically inclined.
Physical Demands Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes, transfers equipment and climbs ladders.
Working Conditions Work is performed both inside and outside working areas. Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Public Relations/Patient Care Coordinator’s job description is two-fold and involves Public Relations duties and Managed Care duties. The responsibilities under the Public Relations section of the job description include marketing the facility and swing bed services offered. Developing, coordinating, and directing public relations activities for the organization by performing the duties personally or through volunteers. The responsibilities under the Managed Care section are to provide leadership to identify and implement improvements to internal systems, policies, and processes that strengthen internal and external managed care relationships. Enhance facility interaction with local companies on healthcare issues. Serve as a liaison with Managed Care organizations. Facilitate the grant procurement process for the facility.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Promote the benefits and services of Mid Coast Medical Center- Central and Coordinates Information Services Activities and promotes Employee Relations Activities.
2. Coordinate the activities with Managed Care organizations - both commercial and governmental.
3. Assist local companies with their healthcare needs.
4. Investigates and procure grants for the facility.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess management skills and must demonstrate knowledge of Managed Care organization and grant writing. Prolonged sitting/standing and walking and demonstrates an ability to speak and listen and to work well with outside companies and organizations. Work is performed both inside and outside work areas.

Must be able to work 8-9 hours per day; bend, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level; lift supplies weighing less than 25 lbs.; must be able to speak, hear and see.
Working Conditions
Must be flexible. Regularly scheduled hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Exposure to sick patients, equipment, staff noise, and interruptions. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Understand and honor the requirements of patient confidentiality.
