Organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs in the hospital and outpatient settings to facilitate rehabilitation of the mentally or physically handicapped. Directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce and enhance performance; facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity. The Occupational Therapist shall be responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of the full scope of occupational therapy services.
1. Performs Pre-Admission, Admission and on-going Assessment related to patient condition and/or plan of care.
2. In conjunction with the patient, family, and staff, a treatment plan or Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan is developed.
3. Provides direct occupational therapy intervention based on the treatment plan and established priorities
4. Evaluates and documents the patient’s response to occupational therapy intervention in relation to the stated goals on the treatment plan.
5. Develops and maintains effective communication with the patient, family and staff members.
6. Participates in continued application of standards required by all applicable accrediting bodies, i.e. Medicare
7. Promotes the concept and image of professional occupational therapy practice
8. Demonstrates understanding of marketing concepts and contributes to the delivery of cost effective health care.
